UPDATED 03.24.26--We are less than one month away from the first-ever SWCC Out of the Darkness Walk, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, on April 23, 2026, at 6 p.m., during SWCC's Pay it Forward (PIF) Week. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., on the east side of the Student Center, with activities, giveaways, and a guest speaker with a story of survival and resilience.
Bring a photo or write a note to hang on the Wall of Hope & Remembrance to honor those who have battled mental illness. Make-and-take aroma therapy bracelets, caricatures, temporary tattoos, honor beads, cookies, drinks, and on-site activities will be available. At 6 p.m., we will begin the walk heading first to the gazebo north of the SWCC ag site, and ending with a walk south through luminaries lit on the sidewalks throughout SWCC's student housing.
To-date, there are 50 walkers registered for the SWCC walk. We would love to see the number grow. If you raise at least $100 for the cause, you will earn a FREE event T-shirt.
Help us bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention efforts!
